On holiday in France I sketched some 10 globular clusters I can't see from my backyard in Belgium. M22 was a real revelation: speckled over all his surface, a lot of stars visible with some beautiful extencions. It should be a very impressive sight in a scope bigger than my 8 cm refractor (@ x111, SQM 20.8).

M55 was also a marvelous sight: big, but not so bright, speckled over all his surface, some stars visible at the border (8cm @ x111, SQM 20.8).

But most globular clusters looked more like M70 (8 cm @ x79, SQM 20.8).

Jef ,
Very fine work on these globulars. All the globulars are worth a look. It would be a real treat to see M22 straight up from the tropics.

Jef,
Excellent job on these globs! M22 is one of my favorites, showing hints of structure in a 15x70 binocular as well. Your sketch of M22 reminds me of my own impression of a few years back. I then imagined branches of stars growing out of the cluster. Too bad we have to travel south to admire its splendor.

That wasn't the intention... I guess it is the result of scanning and inverting the colors
