Finder Scope Bracket for Intes MK67 Deluxe new
      #5406334 - 09/06/12 10:46 AM

I just purchased an MK67 Deluxe

My difficulty is that I am too inexperienced to identify the hardware needed to mount a finder onto the existing mount point on this scope. If one looks just below the Orion scope there is what appears to be a mount point for a bracket. If someone could point me in the right direction for mounting a finder scope to this point I would be deeply grateful.

TIA
Ian

The finder bracket for the Intes MK67 is of special design.
Unfortunately I cannot find any other manufacturer’s finder bracket that fits the MK67.

Ian,

What is the distance between the 2 screws that are in the first picture below the piggybacked scope? You re correct, I believe that that is where you would mount the guide scope.

Much less elegant, but you can add a ring to the OTA and mount a finder on it. Or use one of the non-magnifying finders that have a adhesive base that just sticks to the OTA.

@KW Tong: Thanks KW, I am of the same opinion that this is a specially made bracket.

@Mike: I'm traveling over the weekend and have the scope in the back of my vehicle. I'll measure the width between the screws when I get to my destination on Monday. Also,as there are rings that I have my plate mounted to, there may be a solution there. There is a top plate spanning the rings, but I haven't yet sussed out the spacing of two holes that have been drilled and tapped into it. I agree that may be the way I'll have to approach this short of having a machine shop manufacture something. I'm resisting an adhesive solution (something about my aberrant personality abhors adhesives on scopes) but resistance may be futile.

I have just carried out some investigation as to what other finder bases that can be used on my MK67. After removing the existing mounting block, I find the Dovetail mounting base for finder scope from Orion can be used on my MK67. Is is now possible to use the many straight or right-angled finders from Orion or from other manufacturers.

THAT is an admirable piece of research KW. Thanks for going out of your way on my problem.

You have my gratitude.

APM in Germany should be able to provide you with one, as they are the principal source for I-M scopes outside Russia.
Failing that, I'm using a a set of Stellarvue brackets and rings on my I-M 815 Mak with no issues at all.
