I was curious about using a wireless USB hub at my telescope. I currently only have my Canon EOS camera as imager and a Lodestar autoguide camera that use USB on the scope. I use StarSeek wifi to control the scope via my iPad. I imagine as I get further into this, I may need another 2 USB ports. The distance is only about 50-60 feet. What I am curious about is if anyone is using a wireless USB hub at their scope and how robust they are in terms of staying connected and if they are OK with temps in the teens f? Any product recommendations?

I'd stay away from wireless hubs. USB2 data transfer speed tops out at 480mbps which is much faster than any computer wireless link you'll be able to use. The hub will accept a USB 2 connection but will transfer data at a much lower rate.

I use an active repeater usb cable that I bought on Amazon. I agree that minus using something like remote desktop to communicate with a separate computer outside, it's going to be too slow. I use two of those active repeater cables; one for my guider/mount/etc on a powered USB hub; another one just for the camera.

Good luck!
