Hello stargazers,
I've posted a similar query on the binocular forum in case there are some bino people who don't frequent this one...
I'm going on a vacation away from the cold of this Canadian winter to Hawaii, and I am wondering if I can hear some recommendations on what to see (astronomically primarily, but other stuff is cool to  ).
I'm bringing either my Nikon 10x50's, or hopefully my Burgess 15x70's (if they are fixed by then). Since Hawaii is far further south, I figure there is likely lots of cool things to see that I couldn't normally from this (45 N) latitude.
What good binocular sights are there to see from 20 deg N lat, specifically to the south? I fired up Starry Night Pro, and it appears I should be able to see Omega Centauri, and lots of other clusters in and around Crux. Keyhole nebula?
I'm also planning to see Mauna Kea and hopefully the observatories there. Any tips or other recommendations?

Hawaii huh? Never been there. GTH, and I don't mean Hawaii.

How far south does one have to go to see the Magellanic clouds?

The magellanic clouds are around -70°, so in Hawaii they should be at best at the horizon - probably not observable.
I would always shoot for the big globular Omega Centauri (47 Tucanae is too far south), and the Eta Carinae Nebula.
Also give a look at objects which are visible, but low on the horizon from the upper 48, such as the gems of scorpius and Sagittarius

And you could go visit the Observatories.... Oh and the plainly obvious palm trees and ocean

You are an anomoly.....
The only person I have heard of that has to suffer through a trip to Hawaii!!!!!!!
Enjoy the stars, observatories, girls in grass skirts, beaches, trees, girls in grass skirts, ocean, volcano's, girls in grass skirts....... 
OC should be great along with the other clusters. Can't answer the other questions. Have fun!!!!
