Just a place to post pics taken with your Questar and offer advice to one another. I'm new at this, but having a good time during the learning curve.

Ok, I'll get the party started. Here is Jupiter from 14 Sep 2012. My set up is pointing my scope out an open window. No barlow used in this one. I think I got lucky.

Hi Terry,
What a beautiful collection of photo's with your Q. I really like your full disk sun with all the sunspots. And the moon photos remind me of those featured in the Questar gallery book decades ago, just better. And Jupiter, stunning with just 89mm of aperture. Glad you created a place to do them justice

Here's another one that I just re-processed. Still looks similar, but just a hair more clarity.

Here's an attempt to tweak the color bars to bring out detail in Jupiter's cloud bands. Totally overdone, but it does bring out some detail that was hidden before. There's only so much that I can do with this particular picture. Should be getting clear skies tomorrow.

Although the sky looked beautiful, the atmosphere was very unstable. However, I gave it a try. This was about the best I could do.

Wow, I just caught this....look at the 2 pics above of the transit of Io across Jupiter. The whole angle (or our vantage on Earth) changed in a matter of minutes. Io seems to be below a main cloud belt in the first pic, and then in-line with it in the second pic. Also the top of Jupiter and the GRS are visible in the first, with the second pic having a straight-on view. Am I losing my mind? Or is this just basic Astronomy 101 and I should know this already... :-)
