It would be interesting to see how many Cloudy Nights devotees from outside the immediate area are making the trek to Norman for the festivities. Question: where are the star party participants to set up during the day and evening? That block in downtown Norman as fairly narriw sidewalks and two-story buildings, so I assume close by? Train station in the left background; James Garner statue out of frame to the right. Plenty of room to set up, but not exactly a dark sky site. Oh, well, the Moon will be full that night anyway. It will be nice and quiet when the trains go by at 50 miles per hour 50 feet away, too. I could set up with my refractor out there and then mosy over close to the railroad tracks to see an oncoming train. If you want to bring out the kid in me, get me close to a set of railroad tracks. The Manufacturer reps are here all day. Solar observation should be going on all day, weather permitting, and lunar observation will be going on until around 10ish. Hourly drawings for smaller prizes, then the big guns get drawn for at 5.
