WOO HOO!! I just ordered a a Universal Astronomics UniStar Deluxe from High Point Scientific. I bought a Demo. that High Point had on sale. The mount I bought comes with the 3 inch jaws, and I also ordered 2 inch jaws at the same time. Primarily bought the mount for the 30lb capacity. Looking forward to it's arrival!!!

I purchased the mount because I wanted something I didn't have to plug in to use. Also with a change of jaws I can use either D-plates or V-plates.

Mike, you probably won't need to change saddles - the deluxe has a saddle that accepts both 3" plates and 2" rails. Look closely at the grooves in my saddle...

That would be great Adam if my mount comes that way. But I do not know how old this demo is, or if it has the same kind of saddle plate as yours. We shall see.

I have a 5inch achro. f/6.5 that I was going to put on the mount. I have a CG-5 type tripod I was planning to use.

The dual purpose saddle looks like a recent offering. If your demo Unistar has 4 mounting holes on the altitude head then it can be upgraded. Best to deal with Larry directly when adding new parts as his products have evolved over the years.

You are going to like the Unistar Deluxe mount. I own three UA mounts..the 7" duel clamping Unistar deluxe saddle, the single clamp Unistar deluxe and the Unistar light deluxe.

I mount the 7" duel clamping saddle on a CGE tripod or a Meade field tripod for my C14 and Meade 12 SCT's..the Unistar deluxe single clamp on a medium surveyors tripod for my Meade 8" SCT and the Unistar light on a light surveyors tripod for my SV 102ED refractor.

The mount is very smooth once you balance the scope properly..no need for slow motion controls. Enjoy!

I received the mounts shipping notice yesterday. So far UPS does not show having received the actual package. So your guess is as good as mine as to what is actually happening?!

Well I found out what happened. I sent a e-mail yesterday asking when the mount would ship. The return e-mail arrived today. It seems the package my mount was in was set aside then overlooked by the UPS man. So for the last two days my mount has been sitting in the shipping dept., and going nowhere. So now the mount will be arriving sometime next week most likely.

I'm so sorry about shipping problems that you are dealing with. I just had one myself that put a part 2 of an order 2 weeks after the 1st part. I was concerned as to its whereabouts and also frustrated. It has finally been resolved. It is said that patience is a virtue, but it is really hard sometimes. Best of luck.

Well the mount has arrived a day early!! Right now the mount is on the UPS delivery truck, and I should receive it sometime today!!!!!!! HOORAY!!!!!!!
