Telescope Reviews: NEW SUPER ZOOM EYEPIECE 15.8 mm to 7.9 mm, 66° FOV

On Germany Photokina we came across with a very interested new Zoom eyepiece from worldknown MEOPTA/CZ company.

Its a high end Zoom eyepiece from 7.91 mm to 15.8 mm focallength with a constant FOV of 66° and high eyerelief for eye glas wearer.

I bought one and tested it now last days side by side against our Leica aspherical Zoom on various telescopes include F/5 Newtonians.

The new MEOPTA Zoom has a superb comfortable viewing , a very high contrast, no ghostings....its quality play in same class as the leica eyepiece.

In my F/5 Newtonian the edge performance exceeeds visible the Leica and I would call it a very good all over the field in the newtonians, where the leica sucks a bit.

The Meopta is more compact and your nose will fit between 2 for binoviewing.

- 1.25" with filter thread
- 2" with Filterthread
- 2" with M42 thread

it is availble from stock, for maschining the Astroadapter need some days at the beginning.

Its focal length is a nice match to the leica, not a pur competition. The Leica has 8.9 mm to 17.8 mm with FOV range 60° to 80°.
If you are happy with constant 66° FOV, the Meopta offers you the same performance for much lesser price, 300 Euro less.

The Meopta is my prefered choice if you own a newtonian telescope.
