Does anyone know where to get that handle that you can attach to the top of the rings in order to pick up a scope from the top? I have Paralllax rings on a TOA-130, but no handle. The one that comes with the AT152 is really cool and I would like something like that.
I have checked Losmandy and ADM.
Thanks a bunch, Chris

A nice piece of maple works well and is not very expensive. The DIY laser holder came later.

Check Altair Astro they have scope handles. It's finely crafted although a bit pricey for me (36.50 pounds Sterling)

Junn,
I found the Altair Astro page here
They look really nice!
Surprised the idea hasn't become more popular. I'd love to find something afordable to use on my 160mm. Ideally I'd love something that could be easily attached and removed and not requiring attachment to my scope rings or plates.
I know there are many ways if I want to DIY...
Chris - great question - thanks for posting it.
Pat - nice use of the maple there

Thank you guys!
The Altair units are not long enough. Maybe I'll just use a nice rail.

Chris, I usually find that a spare dovetail rail works quite well. You can see the Vixen style rail on my 6 inch in the background. On my TMB I use a Losmandy rail, as it's flat and is also a good place to put a Telrad base, so I don't have to stick it on the tube.

Here's another option- their handles come in all sorts of sizes. If you look carefully, you'll recognize them from Celestron mounts of old.

You should check out Berlebach's Tube Grip. The Tube Grip comes with a 250mm wood dowel that can be made shorter by cutting it. I myself bought a 1 in. diameter 2ft Walnut dowel to make the Tube Grip longer then 250mm. I made my grip 12in long but really with the Tube Grip you can make it just about any length you want.

Chris
I put a dovetail plate/rail on the top of the rings, very secure and I can piggyback a finder scope or a camera on it if needed.
