Hi,
i bought a Vixen GP-DX and now im searching for a tripod.
I would like to know if the EQ-6 mounts/ Tripods use the same mounting socket.
In short, can i put a GP-DX on a eq tripod without changing things.

No, they are not compatible. A CG-5 or LXD tripod should be compatible though.

I would suggest a surveyors tripod & adapter. You can get both at Universal Astronomics. They have the adapters needed, then you could just shop heavy duty Surveyors tripods.

Not sure what you mean by an EQ-6. Synta makes EQ-5s, HEQ-5s and HEQ-6s. Orion sells the last two as the Sirius and Atlas. These are not going to work without an adapter. Ditto for the Celestron CGEM.
The Vixen SP and GP tripods work and the HAL130 is a very good unit. The EQ-5, CG-5 will work, but the Meade LXD75, Jinghua EM-8, Orion SVP and similar iOptron EQ have a slighly different Az fine adjusment pin. You will have to reposition it.

the orion svp tripod works very well with my vixen SP, probably the same as the cg5. I like it better than the aluminum or wooden ones.
