I did it the other way around, with my LXD55 mount on a CG-5 tripod. It works really well, and the difference is huge. The dec stop is too long and the raised part of the bottom of the mount also does not fit. Can you tell me how you did it. Thanks. If I remember correctly, the LXD-55 tripod was an aluminum tripod and as John implied, it's definitely a weak point and would have a hard time with your 6 inch refractor. This replaces the large "stud" on the LXD tripod. The stabilizer shaft just screws into the bottom of the LXD mount.
