Hi all,
Sketch from yesterday early morning plus a comparison sketch with a different libration from 2005. Link to report.
2012 sketch: black Strathmore Artagain paper, white Conte’ crayon and pencil, black oil pencil
2005: charcoal on Rite in the Rain paper
Working out the eyepiece combo with the magnification, 2005 sketch was done with the ETX70AT. The two observations are nearly the same with regards to lunation and time of night plus altitude and azimuth figures. The big exception is in libration.
2012 10 04: Lib. Lat: +00:26, Lib. Long: +00.35
2005 02 27: Lib. Lat: -00:50, Lib. Long: -05.04
Here's a labelled version:

Erika, your detail just amazes me. I get to a point, and I seem to be at a wall without spending a lot more hours, but you just charge in and get some beautiful stuff!

I like especially the white-on-black sketch. It gives an illusion of light which is rarely to be seen here and elsewhere, and which I nervier reached so far.

Just beautiful! Your 2005-sketch reminds me of my first lunar sketches... I started with an ETX-70.

Those sketches are better than 99% of the photographs I've taken of the moon!
Amazing!

Thank you very much for the kind comments, everyone.
Jef, the mighty little ETX70 is a fun scope. I had a lot of enjoyment from that scope for many years. It's semi-retired now. It's fun pulling out old sketches to compare with the same area's sketches today. What I should do it dust off the ETX and resketch Hercules with it now to see the difference.

I agree. When I see old sketches done with my ETX-70, I think that my recent sketches are better because my recent optic is better.... But in fact I just learned to observe and sketch better
