This comet in Pegasus is getting much brighter than predicted. So check it out! 06/10/2012, 20.30 UT, 30 cm dobson @ x171, SQM 19.1, FOV +/-20'.

Jef,
Excellent observation and sketch. I've read that the comet has a very condensed stellar-like nucleus and your sketch shows that very well.

Jef,
It looks great in your sketch. The last time I checked it was rated at about magnitude 12.4, does that seem about right or do you think it is brighter? I can't check here it is cloudy now.

Thank you so much for informing about this comet. Tonight the sky is clear and I have the same SQM as you. I'm just back from my dome and I found the comet. Pretty one with a small tail like on your beautiful and precise sketch.
Thanks.
Andre.

A link in the Planetary group brought me here,
I was able to observe tonight from Tucson with Instruments from 60MM to 250MM. Based on Stars in the vicinity I would estimate the Comet at around Mag 11. The Nucleus is small and bright, so smaller instruments (100MM or so) might have a hard time resolving.
Movement was evident after circa 5 minutes.
Sky was 3 of 5 as clouds were approaching, and closed down by 9:30 local time.

I'm not really a comet specialist and didn't estimate the brightness. I was already very happy in seeing one after a so long time! But he was surely brighter than 12.4 (otherwise I would have a very hard time in seeing it with my SQM 19.1).

Yes, 15 minutes before I placed the comet on the sketch he was on the same "level" than the two stars to the left.

Nice sketch. I imaged Hergenrother last evening (10/6) and to me it looks like it could be close to 9th magnitude. Thanks for the view.

I like your sketch Jef. I checked this one out last night in my 8" SCT and it was much brighter than I expected! Thanks for the tip, I think I'll keep an eye on this one for a while.

Nice sketch, Jef.
I hope to see it grow brighter, so that I can take a look with my binoculars as well.

Erika and Rony: thanks!
@ Rony: I heard from observations with a 15x80, so give it a try.
