Reflector on a nexstar SE mount?
      #5459491 - 10/07/12 03:55 PM

Hello!

Would it be possible to use a 4.5 reflector tube on a SE mount?
Thanks!

Certainly possible, but it may not clear the base at zenith depending on the length of the tube and the mount point at balance. Also, depends on which mount. The 4/5SE mount is smaller than the 6/8 mount and will have more clearance problems.

I have my Vixen R130sf mounted on my 6/8SE and have no problems with clearance and I have a good balance too.

That's fantastic. And you have no problem at all? I think I'll try that mount. My scope is also a little bit shorter than yours so it would be fine then. I was thinking of going with the SLT mount but with this I can upgrade to a sct later!!

Thanks a lot!
