I managed a quick look and sketch of the comet in the great square of Pegasus near 84 Peg. Since I was facing clouds rolling in from the north, I quickly sketched it on an index card and redrew it on paper indoors. The comet was easily visible and showing a short tail, it was brighter than 10th magnitude.
Sketching: Comet 168P/Hergenrother 10" inch f/5.7 13mm eyepiece at 111x Transparency 3/5 Seeing 3/5 Date and Time: 10/09/2012; 01:15 - 01:40 UT 4" x 10" white Strathmore Windpower smooth Bristol paper, # 2HB, graphite pencils, plastic eraser. After scanning the drawing was cropped and inverted Using Microsoft Office Picture Manager.

What a nice capture, Frank!
This is just great. I always thought that your skies were not dark enough for this kind of observations?

Jef, Rony, Jean and Erika,
Thank you for your kind words. My sky is not good but if the transparency is OK and the object is high I'm in business.

Nice job, Frank. This looks like it has the makings of a good-looking classical shaped comet.
You and the other comet sketchers in this forum went from 0 to 60 on Comet Hergenrother. I still haven't gotten a look at this puppy (although I tried with my 12x36's). Soon, I hope.

Got a quick look at comet 168P/Hergenrother last night (10/11/12)before clouds moved back in. Was cloudy most of day but just opened up before sunset, clouded back up about 9:15 p.m.
Started locating target about 8:20p.m. with my trusty ST120 refractor. Comet was just seen at 40x and a little better at 100x. Could not really tell direction of tail or anything except dim glow.
Hurriedly I wheeled out my 12" dob and aquired target about 8:45p.m. Using a 10mm Radian (150x) I got a nice view of the comet with a little more detail. I managed to see a bright small fuzzy nucleus surrounded by a dim coma with a faint fan shaped tail in an upward direction.
Observed for about 20 minutes before clouds started to appear off in the west. I noticed some movement in this short time. Movement was toward 5'o clock position (roughly north).
Sketch is reflector view at 150x

Nice sketch. Looks like several peoples will sketch it as its a very interesting object with a changing tail.

Michael, Andre and Rutilus,
Thank you all. -- Michael - It has faded a couple of magnitudes and currently I am in Arizona under better skies than back in Illinois, I was unable to see it in a 6 inch scope at 50X after determining I had it in the field of view. It was much easier 8 days ago after a sudden brightening.
