"My"... Moon
      #5462108 - 10/09/12 01:18 PM Attachment (50 downloads)

Two days ago (on 07 october 2012) I captured some videos to the Moon. The results are bellow.
17 VGA Crop Movie videos and 6 full HD videos were captured.
I used my Skywatcher achromat refractor 90/900, paired with the Canon 550D and the Powermate 2.5x for the Crop Movie mode videos and the Powermate 2.5x + Vixen 2x APO Deluxe, for the full HDs.

Because I can attach only one picture, I post the link of my photos, on my astrophotoblog.

You can see the full 12 Megapixels version of the attached pic here: astronomy romanian forum.

Thank you!
Usualy I edit my clips in Registax6, but this time I used Autostakkert. If you want to know about the further editing, I used a french software, called PhotoFiltre Studio.

Those are some nice images, especially from a DSLR.

If you want to take your Moon images to the next level as far as detail goes, you should use a monochrome planetary camera instead. You would get much better images using the exact same techniques. I used my DSLR and a DMK21AU618 on the same night, using the same equipment, and the difference is striking.

I wrote a web-page about it here: LINK

I figure if you're going to spend so much time shooting the Moon, you should have use the weapon of choice. These days I'm using a PGR Chameleon because it has 4x the number of pixels.

Clear Skies!
Eric

Thank you both and many thanks for the link.
For now, I cannot afford a new camera (and a new notebook, obligatorily). I'm pretty satisfied with the results, especially having in mind that I used a cheap achromat (SW 90/900).
The advantage of a dSLR over webcams or dedicated planetary cameras (from my point of view) is that it can save pictures and/or videos without help of a laptop/notebook/PC.
Have a nice day!
