Hello,
I've been getting a error reload firmware when I start up my LS-8. I started up AutoStar and I built a SD card (1GB FAT32) to install the firmware and it appears to have all the files required including the latest firmware download because the ones initially installed are reported no longer valid according to autostar.
But when I plug the SD card into telescope and turn it on it doesn't do anything on the handset. I have let it sit it there for an hour.
How do I get the SD card and telescope to play nice together?
Any help is appreciated! Bob

Start with basics.
In a PC, can you explore the files on the SD card?
do you have something in there with a .bin extension?
Double check that you have the SD card correctly into the telescope. It is really tiny, so inserting it all the way is important. It will be difficult to review, so I put a bit of tape on the end of it so I can just press in, and grab the tape.

Thanks for the response.
The SD card has the following files: FlashFirmware.bin Maps\MAGDECL.MAP Maps\MAGTILT.MAP Maps\SKYMAPS.ROM Menus\Bias.dat Menus\DBASE.ROM Menus\PolarHome.ogg Menus\Strings.dat Objects\Asteroids.db Objects\Comets.db Objects\Satellites.db Tours\A Stars Life.rom Tours\How Far Is Far.rom Tours\Tonights Best.rom User\Arp Galaxies.uob User\Hickson Cluster.uob
The label on the SD Card was changed to EFINDERETX
When I push in to the scope it clicks into place and needs to be depressed again to be removed.
Do I need to have the telescope hooked up to the computer as well as inserting the SD Card?
Thank you again, Bob

The file I don't see in your list is FIRMWARE.bin

Well, I added the Firmware.bin file, but it didn't work.
So, I installed AutoStar on an old XP machine and built the SD card there instead of my Win7 Machine. It has seemed to work flawlessly for upgrading the Firmware on the telescope and the error is gone.
Now, I just need a clear night to try it out. Thank you for your help rigel123

Sure that worked because Vista/7 use the NTFS, whereas XP uses FAT32. The SD card has to be formatted in FAT32 or the LS will not recognize it. You can use Vista/7 but have to select FAT32 when you format the card. Otherwise they default to NTFS.
