Jupiter GRS region Oct 12th UT
      #5467870 - 10/13/12 08:40 AM Attachment (45 downloads)

Hi All,

Imaged Jupiter this morning in fair seeing for the alt, actually it looked really nice overhead but suffered a bit low to the horizon.

Have good coverage of the GRS region, All of these RGB's were derotated with 3 of them being over 11 min's and 1 ( by accident, I lost count of the number of consecutive RGB channels) was 6.5 min's.

Have attached 1 RGB & 742nm IR data set along with animations of both sets.

Thanks for looking.

Regards
Trevor

Very well done Trevor, capturing Jupiter at 36 degrees in fair seeing is no small feat. That close to the horizon in that kind of atmosphere nothing comes easy, I especially like the IR 742 animation that cuts through the 4-5/10 seeing.

Pete

Considering the alt you have to contend with, well done images Trevor!

That's really a fine shot for the altitude, Trevor. I notice that the GRS has "sprung a leak." It seems to me that it did that about a year ago, too.

Kevin

Thanks very much Paul.

Thanks very much Mitch.

Thanks very much Pete, the IR really comes into its own in conditions like this while the multiple data sets certainly help the resolution with the RGB.

Thanks very much Frank.

Thanks very much Kevin, it does look a bit like a leak. Old Jove has such a dynamic atmosphere, there is always interesting stuff happening.
