Davro Optical didn't have the time of day to give me when I called them for advice. The grossly unreasonable quote you got may reflect the fact that they seem to have limited their business to govt. contracts. If you need optics help I would call Cumberland Optics, for anything else I would contact Warren Kutok at Photon Instrument Ltd. These are excellent, helpful and courteous people.

Shocking price-quote just to diagnose the state the Quantum 4 is in. That has no relation to the actual amount of time necessary to perform such work.

Questar is a company that takes much better care of it's products and customers, even long after they were sold new

For US$ 800,- my Q7 would get a complete overhaul of everything by Mother Q!

If they charge $1850 just to look at it, I hate to see how much they charge to fix it. You can buy a perfectly working used Questar for that much.

Thanks J, I will keep your info on hand. If I do end up with a 4" or 6" Quantum it will be one that has been semi restored, a new focuser belt or the focuser mod and a new dianonal..
