My new astrophotography setup #5467895 - 10/13/12 09:01 AM
Here I've uploaded photos of my new setup. I use it from summer this year. The base of the setup constitutes the EQ6 mount. The load is attached to it by a duomount plate. The mount is guided by a cheap 500/5.6 lens and a QHY5 camera. The position of the lens is fixed. This combination of lens and camera is sensitive enough to find a guide star in any spot on the sky. I can use the setup in 3 main configurations - 1. Pentax 6x7 with widefield lenses, 2. with the 400mm lens, or 3. my SN8 scope with Praktica or CCD camera attached to it in the prime focus. I tried to make all parts as rigid as possible. There are several massive steel parts. That's why I call it the Iron Man. Nevetherless, there are still some flexions which are mainly visible on the CCD frames. You can also see my home made battery eliminator and heating strips (made by a fellow astrophotographer for me). You are going to see the images from it soon. If you have any questions on it, feel free to ask. The photos of my older setup Frankenstein are here. It is already sold.
