Hi,

While I admire the versatility of some of the other BVs out there I like the TV's "keep it simple" configuration. The 2X amplifier is simple and very effective but there are other solutions such as Siebert OCAs and a simple Meade 140 Barlow screwed into the nosepiece for variable power. I have never needed to adjust the dipoters on my Denks so I don't miss them on the TV.

Clear Skies,

Steve

Another Night Vision Binoviewer. This is a PVS-7B/D housing with a single intensifier tube and TWO eyepieces with adjustable IPD. A c-mount adapter replaces the standard 1X objective and allows connection to any telescope:

Here's a 3rd Night Vision binoviewer method. A matched pair of Gen 3 Micro Monoculars in a Baader Mark V. DSO's are real easy with this setup.

It's been a while, so I thought I'd update this thread with pics of my Denk IVB S2 diagonal and Binotron/D21 setup...

Had to go dovetail to the power switch on the diagonal as I ran out of focus travel trying to use the nosepiece adapter in the eyepiece holder. No issues with the dovetail; it leaves about 7 full turns of the focuser left with the reducer in the path. The Power Switch appears a bit purple due to the flash on my phone... it is definitely black without the flash.

My Lunt 60P with Maxbright (dedicated) attached directly to top of BF1200. 1.25X GPC is mounted in extension tube (gives about 1.5x in this configuration).

SV110ED with a Baader wedge and Mark Vs. Baader zOOms. I now use the zooms and a pair of 24mm ES eyepecies almost exclusively in the Mark Vs. Not quite as user-friendly as the power switch on the Binotrons, but I love the ability to quickly zoom in on the sun when seeing steadies, then zoom out when it falls off again.

Last one.. Orion 12" with Binotron and long focus tube Moonlight (OCS fully retracted and able to reach focus in all three modes).

As one can see, I have converted to almost 100% binoviewing.

The SV110ED and the 12G were selected specifically because I thought that they were the optimal size scopes for binoviewing.

The SV110ED gives a full two degree field (target was to be able to get the same size true field as the 6" APO with 31mm Nager, and the 12" replaced a C14, and once again, goal was to get the same size true field that I could get in mono-mode with the C14).

I still keep a small set of Naglers and a single ES 20/100 for guests to use, but I have almost completely stopped using them. Not 100% binoviewing, but darned close.
