I have aquired a power supply to mount to my new pier when it's completed.
It is almost new and is an alarm system power supply. There is a total of eight 13.8 VDC power taps on the buss. All taps are fused with a 3.5 amp fuse. The max power the LXD55 pulls is 1.6 amps when both axis's are slewing at the same time.
This power supply is going to be a real convienience to me. No more batteries, or having to hook up to the cigar lighter in the car.
All I really have to do is weather-proof the box with a door gasket. And mount it to the pier.
THe best part is that it was FREE.

I found out that this is actually a video camera power supply. It's regulated and that makes it that much better.
There are actually two separate supplies in the same box, each supply with four taps. I just finished taking some electrical measurements and hooking it up to the LXD55 mount. I used the cigar lighter cord from Meade and cut off the cigar lighter plug and wired it to the terminals on one of the circuits.
You ought to see the scope slewing with this supply, and the output voltage doesn't vary by more than half a volt with no-load or full-load.
I'm going to get a smaller project box and separate the two supplies. The new box will be 3"x6"x8" and will hang from the pier while in use.
