CGEM DX newbie question

I received my CGEM DX mount yesterday but am a complete newbie when it comes to anything astronomy related. This is probably a ridiculous question but I wanted to be sure, as the manual was not clear.
The mount head:
The manual says this: "Rotate the adapter so that the holes line up with holes along the side of the tripod head. Make sure the alignment peg is over the tripod leg that you want to be facing north when aligning."
The picture shows how the adapter came with the alignment peg already screwed in. The problem is that there is no way to align the mounting adapter in such a way that the alignment peg is directly lining up with a leg of the tripod.
Since there is a second hole in the adapter, opposite the alignment peg, I was thinking perhaps I need to move the alignment peg to that hole, but I'm hesitant to do so since it didn't come that way from the factory.
Can anyone shed some light on the proper setup for me please?
Thanks in advance, Harry

Move the peg. It much more stable that way.

Why they come that way is anyone's guess but they shouldn't! Just take a wrench and move the alignment peg. Oops! I see that Stan has beat me to the punch. Yup. Exactly as Stan has already recommended. Be certain to tighten the locking nut.

Thanks for the quick replies! Based on the instructions it made sense to move it but I wanted to make sure. The learning curve is huge right now for me, and the last thing I want is to start off with my mount head facing the wrong direction.

Hi Harry, You can use it either way as long as you point the mount so the alignment peg is pointing north.
