Sunset at Archimedes and Montes Spitzbergen
      #5506630 - 11/06/12 10:34 AM

Despite Clear Sky Chart showing all of Arizona under "dark blue" 4/5 seeing, it was quite poor this morning, limiting me to prime focus imaging. Here is a sequence of an hour of images taken with a 5-minute interval that shows the lengthening mountain shadows. The image scale was doubled in Photoshop.

I was initially concerned about field rotation in the frames, but this is my permanently mounted setup that is closely polar aligned. The counterclockwise rotation is due to the moon "turning the corner" as it heads southward down the ecliptic.

Very nice Tom! A fascinating and dynamic animation.

Yes seeing was not as good as expected, and around the time you were shooting this it was fairly poor. Great result for those conditions!
