Been almost 3 weeks since i've had any decent chance to image Jupiter, so with last nighta clear skies and some variable seeing conditions, I gave it a shot. Was somewhat a challenge getting a good focus at high magnifications, but I was able to get a short, slightly steady period to capture this image.

Good work James in difficult conditions! Looks like you could tone down the green level some - just my view on the monitor before me.
The monitor can make a huge difference. I recall viewing some of my own images on a neighbors computer and they were awful!

Thanks guys! Must be this monitor as I usually get a "too green" feedback from time to time.
I toned it down a bit, let me know how she looks and thanks as always for the feedback! Much appreciated!!!

I think you've made some improvements in color processing with the last image looking quite good. Perhaps placing two monitors side by side each made by a different manufacturer would give some useful feedback on whether you're applying too much green or not. I use both a computer monitor and a flat panel TV screen to help me decide how to balance the colors.
I was wondering what feature on Jupiter you use to adjust your focus control when seeing conditions are marginal; that's always been my biggest problem. If a moon is in the field of view do you focus exclusively on that rather than any cloud features on Jupiter itself? Also if you had to pick tomorrow morning (Saturday) or the following morning (Sunday) which would you choose based upon the current cloud, seeing and transparency forecasts? I'm leaning toward Sunday because I'd like to get Ganymede but the cloud situation might be better on Saturday morning. I don't think I can handle two mornings in a row.
Thanks, Pete

Peter - I usually will try and focus my attention on the line where the different bands merger. If the GRS or a good white oval is present, I will also try to focus on them. CSC also looks good for tonight.

Looks like the right kind of conditions to get the new 12.5" out! Not sure about you, but the next couple of night hold promise for us in NC. I don't expect the perfection that CSK offers, but a sold 3.5 to 4 / 5 is ok in my book!
Coming along nicely James!
