I think this Cubesat isn't going to bother us for long, objects like them tend to fall out of orbit quite rapidly at the altitudes where it is orbiting the Earth. It'll burn up completely when it does re-enter.

Yes, a fiery end befitting a great many things that are undesirable to say the least. I doubt all those LED's will do is anything more than make this object easy to see with the unaided eye anyway.

The Goodwill Blimp gone high tech????? That's what I'm afraid of. That, or they;ll start listening to that plan of a string of sattelites to help focus the suns energy to the dark side of the planet....

I think a more likely and worrisome future is billboards or some other type of advertising in low earth orbit. The marketing folks seem to know no limits to placing ads everywhere there can.

I dunno, I think it's a pretty cool idea. Plus satellite passes only last 9 minutes. Plus, this sat would make a really sweet widefield shot if you caught it with a fisheye and had the Milky Way as a backdrop. I call dibs on this idea!

All dashes in fixed intervals is not morse code. It's just a visual beacon. Still, I really don't like that they would do this as it really is nothing more than an annoyance for Astro Photographers and could indicate to people that perhaps space is best used for a digital bilboard of humongous size.
