Seeing was generally fair to good most of the night, although earlier there were some exceptionally good moments. Will find out when I get to those earlier videos. The seeing was above average (6-7/10) for this image shown in a north up view at 1.2X. Captured with a Flea3 using FireCapture 2.1. Comments or questions welcome. Thanks for looking! I am jealous of your processing, it looks so smooth and natural. I was out a bit before you (around 12:30am) and found seeing to be really nice. About an hour earlier I captured this image. It is presented with Jovian south up. It was created by derotating single R, G & B images in WinJupos. WinJupos derotation output likes planetary north or south up. I left it in that orientation. Note that near the central meridian of the NEB is the white spot Z or WSZ. Its not white currently, but sort of a vanilla color. Lots of times its not so well defined as it often gets lost amid the NEB streaks that it travels through, it has a fairly high drift rate. Also sometimes the NTrZ is so bright that it gets lost there. You can also see it in the first image posted as it was approaching the limb. I have one earlier image taken in better seeing. At least I think it is since the blue channel is one of the better ones. Blue is the last color to give up its secrets of Jovian detail. Anyway hopefully I'll post it later. Thanks for looking! I don't know whether to move to Arizona for better seeing or ask you to consider teaching an on-line course in planetary processing. In the end I'll probably stay here and hope to pick up scraps and pieces of info from your posts on how to bridge the gap between my mediocre stuff and what you've shown above! Pete, just hang in there and you will be rewarded with good seeing. Seeing is such a huge part of the equation it dominates everything else. I can assure you the seeing here does not come close to what I had while living down in the swamplands of SE Texas. I don't miss the bugs, dew and fog rolling in however! What we do have here is a lot of clear nights. Sometimes I go for months without getting a sharp blue frame, and the image posted here had a blue channel I can only rate as average, based on previous experience. Everything minus real estate values, I'd pick SoCal! Earlier in the morning I had the best seeing. There is an oval surprisingly high in the south polar area. This is also a WinJupos derotated RGB image, planetary south at top. Thanks to Darryl for his tutorial! Thanks for looking! I think 30 years ago it would have taken a 60" or larger telescope to come close to these. The NEB is really getting active, I can't even begin to think of what it will look like when it reaches maximum activity, who knows when that will be. Thanks for posting such excellent images!
