Some stupid questions if I might. I put a 4 inch f/8 refractor on my Sky View Pro last night, while trying to sight in Jupiter , I used the slo-mo cables, get it in the center let go of the slo-mo cables, an watch it spin back wards and gone.
My first thought was balance, so I rebalanced everything, andthe same thing.
Is there a way to tighten this mount up enough to stay put when you let go of the cables???

If it is slipping after you tighten both clutches then there is definitely something amiss.

Taking this simple mount apart is not the place to start. The place to start is with, as Eric says, CHECKING YOUR CLUTCHES.

The declination axis, even just rebalanced it dead perfect, tweaked the slow motion cable, and watched it spring back.

Wow, the declination axis on mine is pretty stiff when loaded up.
Are you the first owner of this mount or did you acquire it used. From the factory I'm not sure I've ever heard people have problems with it being too loose (usually they think they are too sticky).

I'm the second owner, and it actually springs back, though there is one spot where it will drop.
tweek the cable it moves, when you let it go it springs back.

Well, I am pretty baffled. When I got my SVP (used) I did think about doing some work on it; however, it turned out it didn't need it so I didn't. Still I learned a bit about the inner mechanics. This site ( http://www.andysshotglass.com/SVPmods.html ) might be of some help.
