Suggestions for December's Intermediate DSO Challenge:
NGC 2261 Hubbles' Variable Nebula reflects light from the irregular variable star R Mon, which varies from 10th to 13th magnitude and might make an interesting target for that time frame.
NGC 1931, Cluster with nebulosity, mini version of M42 with it's own 'trapezium'. Transits around midnight in December. Mag 11.3, 3 arcmin in size. RA 05:31:24 DEC +34deg 15' 00".
IC 2118 Witch Head Nebula This is a faint and difficult object and it fills a wide field. It would definitely pose a challenge for all skill levels. Perfect for for 400mm and lower focal length telescope or lens.
NGC2359 Thor's Helmet Just cause it's cool looking...
Horsehead Nebula is a classic and it'd be nice to see a variety of different takes on it.
