Explore Scientific Twilight I Alt-Az Mount
      #5511401 - 11/09/12 10:41 AM

Has anyone tried the Explore Scientific Twilight I Alt-Az Mount? I believe this is also available from Orion as the VersaGo III, but I can't find any reviews on these.

There were a few threads relating to the ES Twilight I / Versago III mount. Here are some of the main ones:

By reading the above threads it seems to me that opinions are mixed. Is anyone using a 4" f/9 or larger refractor and can comment about the stability of the mount?

IMHO this mount is not suitable for a 4" f/9. I even tried it on my CG-5 tripod and it was still too shakey.

It is more than adequate and quite a joy to use with my ED80.
