Star parties from November to March seem very limited, except WSP in Keys.
Why-seems like folks would like to flee the cold and go south for a star party?

Yeah, being from Southern California, I actually prefer winter for observing and imaging.....the nights are longer.
There is a great allure to observing in shirtsleeve weather, but really, there should be more winter star parties.

November or March might not be too bad temperature wise. The WSP has 60 degree nights. Not many places you can get that in winter even down south. Generally cloudier in some places as well.
Go to the one in Australia.

The Chiefland Fall Star Party should be bookmarked. Great facilities and dark skies make this a must go event.

It all depends up on your point of view . And this is a very good Winter star party option.
Seriously, Ozskies down in Australia is one of the best ways to enjoy the Southern skies. You have a field of several 18-30" dobs, premium eyepieces, and some of the most knowledgable and friendly observers in the Southern Hemisphere with whom to observe. It is something that folks should consider. Of course it costs more, but this would be for a special observing week out by Siding Spring Observatory in Coonabarabran, NSW, Australia.
Trust me, it rarely if ever gets better than this. Put it on your bucket list.

Yeah, when we went to the outback eclipse (ten years ago now), we rented an observatory bed and breakfast for a week. And we took in a whole lot more while we were down there. Great skies......and the upside down did not bother me too much once I figured it out.

As long is the bucket is full, you are alive with things to do. An empty bucket would be a sad thing indeed.

upside down is really wierd-until you get used to it and 1/3 of the universe that cannot be seen from the North
you have answered my question-we do not have many winter star parties because we need to go south as the ultimate astronomer Xmas gift to ourselves

The upside down thing didn't affect me at all during my trip to Chile in 2010. I didn't travel down there to look back north at the upside down stuff like Leo, Ursa Major, Gemini, Taurus etc.
