Keep the legs pretty short. No problem. On the tripod? Don't extend the legs, get the vibration pads if you are shooting on a hard surface, and the Orion pier extension for the Atlas (works on the CGEM) to keep the OTA from hitting the tripod and it will work quite well. I really need a replacement lol. I have a $99 scope on a $1500 mount atm. With the focal length provided, weight and the great accessories it seems to be the best match. BTW, it's $1699 at Starizona. I use to have a C6-R on my Atlas, and with the ES 127, I was able to remove an extension, it is so much easier to mount and use than the heavier and longer C6-R. The ES 127 also works fine on my CG-5, when I don't want to set up the heavier Atlas.
