Total Solar Eclipse
      #5518615 - 11/13/12 08:04 PM Attachment (32 downloads)

Greetings,

Was in Australia for the Total Solar eclipse this
morning. My image was taken from a cruise ship, and
the crew did a marvelous job of finding a hole in the
clouds during the event. (pic below).

That's an excellent image of the eclipsed Sun and its corona.

I watched the eclipse on Slooh, but it was nothing close to this in image quality. A once in a lifetime shot, congratulations.

Many thanks for your supportive comments.

I've also put together a simple collage from some of the
images I took:

- It's just a single shot taken with a dSLR
- I had to manual focus b/c of the Tele-extender
I was using; always a little tricky (for me) but the
pitching/rolling of the ship turned out to be the major
cause of unsharpness
- As an aside: I brought H-a equipment, but abandoned
this idea once I saw how unsteady the ship was... I could
barely manage the camera (full-frame sensor) on a tripod...

Very interesting and technically superb photograph. Although the eclipse wasn't total at my location, I did not two close lunar peaks close together on the p limb, so I knew there'd be a good Diamond Ring effect in it for someone...The corona doesn't look like a typical solar maximum elongated configuration though... hmmmmm
