The transit of Io tonight should be especially interesting.
The shadow transit starts at 2304CST, trailing the GRS initially. By the time Io itself transits at 2333CST, it's shadow should be near or over the GRS.
When the GRS transits the meridian (0027CST) it should be bracketed by Io on one side, and it's preceeding shadow on the other.
Just FYI...

Already tracking! Jupiter will be well above the 2x airmass this time also. Skies are looking great here, at least for the Texas gulf coast.

Clouds are thinning . I just may be given the opportunity to partake !
Or it could cloud back up .
As of now , I've got it focused up in my classic 60 with my 12.5mm Owl Plossl through a #15 yellow filter . At just over 20 derees high And a magnification of only 73x , it's actually already lookin pretty good . Darkened polar regions both north and south along with both equatorial belts and even the north temperate belt showing well . Not bad for 60mm eh ? Hopefully the clouds will continue to diminish as we gain altitude . This could end up being a best of Jupiter through the 60 yet !

Looks like the skies were grand in Texas . Clouds crept back in on me just as the action was comin into play . Stayed out anyway getting peeks here and there through the sucker holes . Only a couple seconds at a time were the views . Not enough time to even assure best focus . Scarewed again !

Well, it did not look quite the way skyview cafe predicted. By the time Io began it's transit the shadow was well ahead of the GRS. Io was very close to the GRS though.
The weather cooperated well here, but the seeing was only 2/5, occasionally 3/5.
With the 10" I was able to distinguish the oval ba, and the spot trailing it. The oval ba appeared almost as big as the GRS.
Lots of belt and zone detail were evident elswhere also. I wish I knew how to sketch!

Starrancher, sounds like you had a good one going with the 60mm until the clouds boofed you!
Ashfall, you seemed to have better conditions on the Gulf Coast. Hope you were able to get some good viewing!
Raldo, any success?
