Because of a post here previously, I returned my CPC-1100 to Celestron and they cleaned the corrector which had developed a white circular haze since I bought it in Dec. 2010. They also fixed a gps module and generally serviced it. From the day I shipped it to CA to its return was 5 weeks, held up slightly by Hurricane Sandy. I am very happy with this service, although I don't know what, if anything, was done to cure the outgassing problem at its root cause. I keep it on a Scopebuggy in a non climate controlled garage where summer temps can get into the 90's, but this never happened with the previously owned CPC-800 which was similarly stored. Tim

It may have been my report on the EdgeHD 8" that you saw.
Since I cleaned it earlier this year, no sign of haze has returned.
I have owned many SCTs and this was the first time I had this issue.
And of course since then, a few other people have reported it.
My bet is that it is something in the paint they were using and that perhaps the tube was sealed before the VOCs could fully escape from the tube.
In other words, my bet is that they didn't let the paint dry before they put the scope together. Everyone is in a big rush these days.. LOL.

Thanks, Eddgie; this is reassuring. Customer Service at Celestron assured me my warranty would extend another year in case this problem recurred. Tim
