Hmmm... looks like night on an alien world on which life has only reached a rather primitive stage thus far - that of moss and other such simple organisms. I can imagine it as a foggy world full of swampy canyons that are covered with green carpets of mosses that almost seem to glow a big in the dark.

As for what to add, I am not sure. Maybe a spacecraft sitting in the swamp with explorers taking a better look at what might be living in the murky water?

It does look as an alien world. I like the picture. It's very misterious. I wish I had some interesting ideas like you do, James.

It looks like either Bryce or Terragen you are using..very nice lighting and mats. I think some "alien" buildings built into the mountainsides, some foilage (trees) and wooden suspended walking bridges would make his image spectacular! Looking *BLEEEP* good so far!

Heck.my skills don't enter into this at all....the difference between ART and Graphic Design is that one does ART for ones OWN pleasure, and if it pleases others..oh well...thats a by-product! LOL. YOur scene has great balance, perspective, lighting, and texture. Has serene mood on its own accord. YOu don't have to model your own buildings, there are plenty of models you can download and use or manipulate to your own tastes...and import them into your scene and create that "other-wordliness" by adding those dimensions of drama. Or...stick a rose coming up from the middle of the lake and entitle it: "From the Depths it A-Rose" (now it has become MARKETABLE art!!) lol

Once the models have been mapped and textured, you then use them CREATIVELY in a scene that you author...such as shown here..

go to renderosity as jump point...renderosity is the CN of the 3d art world. from there, there are 1,000's of tricks, tips, technique tutorials, models, galleries, etc...

www.renderosity.com

(i just found one of my first "worthy" renderings...a WIP that I never finished either....but a pretty nature scene in its own right, much like yours)

Thanks for your help That link is Fantastic my word there's so much on there and all great!

The image you just posted is amazing too..

I had a little play this afternoon with a 3dmax Model here's the result, it's just a tester really to see what would fit in with the image style..I changed the colours around and added glow effect's to the shark plus editted it a little in photoshop.

there's the idea!!! now some jet stream off the wingtips and plasma/solid rocket flow off the rear engine to add some drama!

(the image above was a 100% Bryce beginner rendering...Bryce is like super terragen..much more control then terragen)

If you don't mind my input as a form of constructive suggestions, I think the "scale" would be better perserved making the dwellings about 1/10th the size they are and embedding them into the hillsides in a village like fashion..and using omni-lights embedded within the structure..light up some of the windows...and those along the lakefront would cast soft light over the water (by controlling intensity and range of the lights). This way, the dwellings are scaled to the "grain" of the mountains...and the "jet" leaps to view relative to the smaller scale mountain-village it leaves behind. On the far bank of the mountains...you might embedd a landing platform (ala Star Wars style) that could serve by "scale" to illusrate where the jet arose from.

This is just the way i picture the scene you are starting...there are infinite possibilities of course! Glad you are having fun, and have found some models to help in your creations. No point in re-creating the wheel unless you absolutely have too!

Hi Gary,

Thanks for that my friend and i agree 100% with what you have said. This was kinda of a test image and prob wont look like it does now although i do like the sharkship . I like the idea of a Platform ala (Star wars style) not sure about the Village yet as i may go for a more remote setting with the Sharkship on a servey mission kinda look...

Having loads of fun and that rendercity website is just fantastic thanks again for that!.

Regards

James

James, i would recommend a ship, half sunk in the water, with the shadow of a water beast lurking in the water.

The image looks amazing already though.
