hi all,
the seeing was the best I had in this season !

Here two sketches:
252/1502mm Dobson

14.Nov. 2012, 20:35 UT, 200x - 7.5 Astroplan Kasai
I 74° II 179°

Bye Christian

and the second:

14.Nov 2012, 21:10 UT, I 95° II 200°
V 250x

The small white spots in the SSTB and the dark
spot near the BA I saw first at this good conditions !

The seeing was not perfect at 500x Ganymed was not often perfectly round, the dark details at 375x on the small disk were heavy to see.

Bye Christian

Excellent observation of Ganymede, Cristian! Boy I really need some good seeing over here to try that.

Christian,

These are very fine sketches. You are picking out details I have missed. You have a good eye and are very patient.
Very,very fine.

Frank

Again, Christian, well done. You are capturing some tone differences in the QE zone. Also, love the way your portray the GRS being darker along the southern edge. The notch in the NEB is interesting, too.

Seems a 10" can do those ovals in the STrB. They are extremely elusive in a 6", a holey grail for me.

But, detail can surely be seen on Ganymede's tiny disc. Placing it correctly can be a challenge, too. Great observation, I never even thought it was possible until Pete mentioned trying it.
