Your C8 must be a very good visual telescope. Was this one made in California? About how old is it?

Well, visually it's not that good because SCTs are a bit fussy by definition because of the sensitivity to ambient temperature variations and the big central obstruction. Mine is a three year old average C8, but with three vent holes with fans (that I never use) behind the primary and small vent holes around the corrector plate, Intes Micro style. I also wrap it up with a thermal insulation sheet during avi aquisition to avoid convection currents inside the tube.
The truth is I got lucky and caught the exceptional seeing we had the night I took the pictures.

If it's only three years old then this would be a Chinese made C8 with vents added by someone. It a great image. The best I have seen with a C8. Thanks.

Steve
