Mount for a lunt 80ed refractor?

What mount should I buy ? With a 2 inch diagnal it would weigh in close to 7lbs it has a clamshell and the same focal ratio ,f/7 like a stellarvue ed80sv.

If you want something light and even for AP then i would suggest a nice CG5-GT or an Orion Sirus/Skywatchcer HEQ5. Those are more than anough to handle that load and there is a lot of user feedback around to handle almost any problem you may encounter in the future.

I would get something along the lines of a Vixen Portamount. That's what I use with my 80mm F/7 apo. It's simple, it's handy and can be used for terrestrial observation too...

I use my Celestron 6SE mount with my Lunt80 with DSII. The only issue is aiming at the zenith. The B1800 will hit the mount base when aimed at the zenith. Other than that the mount is perfect for use with the Lunt, it is light, very transportable and easy to align on the Sun.

I'll second the CG5 recommendation. It's lightweight and portable, yet capable. I do have a Nexstar 8SE mount, but I just can't see myself putting a $5500 OTA on it.

I use an older AZ-3 for grab-n-go and an LXD55 for tracking and piggy-backed astrophotography for my 80ED. Both work well. However, I will be moving up from the LXD55, as I'd like to do better AP, and am considering a used ASGT-5, as I know these easily handle the weight.

I put my $5500 Lunt on the 6SE mount without trepidation. I won't put it on my LX80 with stock tripod due to issues others have had with tripod top failures. I replaced my LX80 tripod top with a machined aluminum top and now I have no problem putting my Lunt on it.
With that said, the 6SE mount is more stable than the LX80 and Celestron allows one to align on the Sun. Meade does not.
I had a Celestron AS GT and it was a good mount. But the problem with EQ mounts is that the eyepiece can end up in weird places. WIth the 6SE, the eyepiece position is pretty consistent.

You can look at the sun with the proper filters ect,but it is just a regular scope for night and day viewing.

We use a Discmount 4 for grab and go, swapping between a Lunt 80 (solar) and TMB 92 (night), and it handles both well. It also serves as my wife's main setup for visual observing when I'm imaging with our larger scope and mount. A key feature is that it's light enough my wife feels comfortable managing the whole setup herself, even if she just wants to take the solar scope outside around the house sometime when I am busy.

I guess it is a reference to the glass type used for the lens,meaning Extra low Dispersion.

I like my Desertsky dsv-1 on a medium duty tripod. it a nice one handed gng.
