Hot/warm pixels new

Stupid question. When looking at the attached photo it seems to me that the hot/warm pixels are elongated but the stars seem relatively round. Is this just a matter of apc settings or is something else going on? Shouldn't you gauge the roundness of the stars over the roundness of the hot/warm pixels? I am a Mallincam Extreme.

The elongation appears to be chroma bleed, normal in analog video.

Would there be a way to lessen this effect?
