Need Photos of these Eyepieces....
      #5528110 - 11/19/12 02:41 PM

I am compiling a work on eyepieces. I already have a lot of photos contributed by various folks. Below is a list of photos I am still looking for. If anyone has photos of any eyepieces from the following lines (and you are the copyright holder of the photo - i.e., you took the picture), and you would be willing to let me use it in a work I will be publishing, please PM me and will give you the details.

The photos need to be high resolution, usually means around 1MB or larger JPEG or TIFF file. So not a website quality photo which is usually less than 200k.

I need a single photo with as many focal lengths of each eyepiece line. So in your case would be 2 photos, one of all the Paradigms together, the other of all the KK Orthos together.

Photos should be as high resolution as your camera is capable of. Eyepieces should be on a light surface with a light background, otherwise when they are printed the eyepiece might blend into a dark background or not look so good. Also of course well lit as possible.

Send me a PM and I will give you my personal email address and more information on my project. Will need these by end of next week at latest. Earlier better since I will need to format them and credit them properly. Crediting is as follows so will need this info from you when you email them:

First Name, Last Name or Last Initial, City (optional), State, Country.

Thx!

Dave & Rguasto - Sent you PMs.

OK, I have a 10 mega pixel Olympus DSLR and one of those "portable studio" boxes that evens out the light and has different backgrounds. I will take the photographs of the Paradigms and KK orthos.

Bill, I can get you 8mm and 17mm Orion Lanthanum Superwides.

Also, Bill, do you need one of the 50mm Parks (2") Plossl (sometimes advertised as Gold Series, but not - it's from the same maker as the maker for the Optiluxes)?

Regards,

Jim

Here are a couple of binoviewing pairs I collected and never use. One day I will compare these, they appear very similar in size. I remember UO sold these at the same time.

I have a couple of Parks Golds somewhere, and a friend has a near complete set of KK Kellners, and another has the KK Widescans.

Mariner@sg - sent you PM to send the KK pics

Ray - sent you PM to send the Super Erfle pic

Paul - Thanks you!

Ernest - This are some good pics. Unfortunately I would need the person who took them to send them to me in higher resolution and send the release terms as well, otherwise the publisher will not include them in the book due to copyright issues. So I can't take pics directly from the web due to that

BTW, does anyone have a pic of the Dioptrix? Would love a picture of that alone, then of same eyepiece with and without it mounted.

The current/newer Sirius plossl has the safety groove step as well now. i got mine in the Orion set only a bit over a month ago and it has it.

I recenty did a bunch of selling, which included both versions of 23 axiom, and a 40mm Optiluxe. Any photos I may still have on my card were shot at low res though, about 1.5 megapixel, might not be enough for your book (definitely not the 23 axiom pic as that was a group photo with a couple ultimas)

What I do have are 13-20-30 KK WSIII (you didn't mention them but someone else did)

I also have the following, 15mm and 20mm Meade QX, and a 36mm QX that suffered an accident, but if the glass does not have to be shown, It could pose in a side view.

I have 40mm 2" E-Lux, missing the rubber grip, and 40mm E-Lux plossl, which might make a good photo, along with a 25mm E-Lux plossl as well.

Also still have a 15mm GSO superview with the OPT branding.

Send a PM if interested, I still have a bunch of EPs.

A friend has the 15mm Antares w70, pewter colored version, and an older well worn in 30mm Superview.

Looking on my camera, I have 3 different "poses" of the 40mm optiluxe, shot at 1504x1000, as well as a grouping of KK flat top orthos with UO HD and Antares branding, same resolution, which is probably enough for a single EP, but too low for the group of orthos most likely. Everything on my HD is in limbo since my old MBP just crashed, but these are still on my camera card, so if you find yourself without a 40mm optiluxe pic, it might do in a pinch.

The others I mentioned I can photo at high res if needed.

Heres some pictures - not sure if they are of any use. Unfortunately when I checked my PC I had deleted loads because most were photographed for sale. As they sold through they have been deleted. I thought I might have kept the original pics (in fact was sure I did) but it seems I deleted the lot - sorry - heres what I do have though........

I like the EP just fine. It is well corrected in my F/4 scope, a vastly wide FoV, stars are sharp to the edge (with Paracorr). The vastness of the FoV gives an interesting effect, the edge of the FoV "looks" farther away. This is not a distortion (such as field curvature) but simiar to a night in the desert with clear skies to the horizon. There, stars on the horizon look farther away than those at even only 20d above the horizon look--sort-of like a flattened dome effect.

The only thing that is a little wierd is that the every edge of the FoV shows some stray light--that is it goes bright rather than dark. This is on a scope with excellent stray light prevention measures. It is not really a problem as this edge is beyond my eye's ability to see while looking into the EP.
