AT72ed on CPC 800 w/wedge sans autoguider
      #5528824 - 11/19/12 09:13 PM

I need a little advice before I start buying stuff. I was thinking of piggybacking my AT72ed on the CPC 800 using either the scope stuff (around $80) guidescope kit or the ADM one ($170). I did read one poster was unhappy with the ADM - any others have any thoughts on this?

Also, what length exposures could I get (At72ed focal length is 430) without autoguiding?

Thanks for the help.

I don't have experience with the piggybacking kits, but I have a counterweight kit of ADM and I am happy with it. Could you refer to the link where a CN member had a negative experience?

Concerning your question about exposure time: I successfully made exposures of 1min30 seconds with a 400mm lens on a wedge without autoguider.
I recall I was able to track correctly for even longer times (I tried 2min successfully, and also 2'30" still was decent) but those frames turned out to be unusable due to light pollution.
