What Did I Just Buy?? new
      #5529177 - 11/20/12 12:05 AM

Purchased this on Ebay, more of a impulse buy, but hey, it was only 35 bucks. Seller says it's 7 inches in diameter but I'm guessing that's including the cell. Probably more like 6 or 6.5 inches. Kind of big for a copier lens, maybe an old aerial camera lens?

Worse comes to worse I'll have a heck of a big magnifying glass for these tired old eyes.

DANG! I would have risked that purchase. I could seriously use a 6" short tube for a finder. My current finder is an Orion 120ST. I have some Celestron 6" yard cannons but those are F8 something and don't cut it for a finder FOV.
If that lens turns out to be telescope material, and you want to turn a quick profit (within reason), I'm interested.

This 'may' be a great find. It is 'possibly' a short focus (f-5) 6" achromat made by a now long defunct company valled 'Optical Glass Fabrication' which made 6 and 8" F5 lenses back in the 70's and 80's. I had both at one time and they made great RFTs. Let us know how it test out.

I have a 114mm F12.5 that was made by Optico and it is a nice lens. I is in an OTA made by Dobbins Co. and was built back in the early 80s. I think it is likely you did really well there.
