I didn't see this posted, so I thought that I would post it here:
It looks like Optic Wave Laboratories (OWL) is giving a 50% discount on all mirror coatings, including standard, semi-enhanced, and enhanced coatings, but not including silver coatings.
Seems like a great deal!

Oh? What sort of issues? Obviously I don't want to get into vendor bashing, but if there is a legitimate issue, then people should be aware.

I am hesitant to post much regarding this topic, but I will suggest you do a google search on the questions you are asking. I think it will be more productive than trying to start a new thread on this.

I don't know, they did a good job refiguring my XT8 mirror to .991 Strehl. It gives great images, star tests excellent & the enhanced coating they applied looks fine with no pinholes, etc.

A member of our club had a 12.5" mirror refigured and coated by OWL. He was happy with it. That sale has been going on for quite a while.

Though my opinion is biased because of bad experience with the company, I would highly recommend you do some Cloudy Nights research on others experiences with the company. Many have had his "discount " coatings fail within weeks. The last I looked, he had a D- rating from the Better Business Bureau.

about 8 years ago I had a xt8 mirror refigured no improvement
even after replacing with 1/20 wave secondary. The new coating on primary had pinholes after having a week kept getting worse I guess the mirror wasn't overcoated no response to my email haven't used them since.

In the world, you get what you pay for. In this hobby, if something is deeply discounted you really have to ask yourself why is that?
I had my 18" mirror coated by Majestic this year and they did an outstanding job. You can add OMI, Clausing, Spectrum, Nova and others besides OWL.

 I wondered when that was coming...
I have my classic old 6" F8 Newtonian that, tho the optical figure appears excellent, badly needs recoating. Several times i was THIS close to shipping it to OWL for the service, but got sidetracked by this or that.
Since then, these "issues" keep coming up on the forums... so sad to say, i'm now glad i never sent it off there.
I find this a very sad affair... much preferring to think highly of the vendors in our hobby. Clouds can be such detestable things, whether spoiling an otherwise beautiful Moonless night, or a vendors reputation.

Nova Optical . . . Steve does outstanding work and Carl uses him and he's just down the road. For those out west its a day or two max I would suppose in shipping via UPS.

Besides bogus refiguring and less than acceptable coating, there is a story of a C9.25 that was worked on by OWL. If I remember correctly something about a retaining clip that wasn't reassembled correctly optics came loose(as in unconnected and optical elements getting smashed) and the scope was totaled. Sorry don't remember how that finally resovled or if it ever did.

Okay, guys. Let's not get into vendor-bashing. The OP pointed out a sale, and others have pointed out possible issues with the vendor. I don't think we need to rehash every negative experience anyone has heard of unless we give the vendor a chance to give his side.
