Does anyone have a recommendations for a case? I looked around and found a few but was looking for a cheaper alternative. CGEM mount and tripod also
My initial thought was to put the optic tube with foam in an ice chest. Fairly rugged and easy to carry. The CGEM mount is a bit more problematic. Would the foam it came in be suitable or should I find something similar to the commercial case foam.
I want it as light as possible and easy to move. Waterproof if it needs to travel in the bed of a truck with a tarp cover would be good to.
any thoughts, links or suggestions for a DIY solution would be appreciated.

For the C8 I would recommend one of the soft cases from Orion or Pacific Cases. Some people do use things like Stanley rolling toolboxes but they get kind of bulky for a relatively small OTA. The CGEM has only one option with custom fit foam that I know of. The other option is to use the original packing foam in a Pelican 1650 case.

I was about to head to Harbor Frieght to pickup a 25g toolbox for my Edge, when my wife dropped a rubbermaid chest in my lap.
The stock styrofoam from the Edge box fit in the Rubbermaid perfectly.

Still have a couple C8 steamer trunks about. A 9.25 will fit in those. The Pacific bags are nice. Wish they made one specifically for the 9.25. The C9.25/C11 model makes its butt look fat.
