It's arguably one of my favorite lenses in my whole bag...it's probably the best "bang for the buck" portrait lens on the market, imo.
I really had no idea how it'd do for SEAP though...I'm quite pleased.

Thanks! As said above, I was quite pleased with this lens's performance...this was the first target I'd shot with it, and was genuinely surprised by the amount of data it pulled down in such a short time. I'm really looking forward to shooting more targets with it.

Great shot of the "W" love that part of the sky to wonder around in. Pretty deep for just a 3 second exposure. What ISO did you use? I find 800 is the sweet spot in my Canon with my sky conditions.
How long exposure you think you could go before you gey trailing?

My apologies for the oversight...thought I'd put ISO in the OP, see I missed it. This was shot at ISO6400.
I was blessed to be in a dark blue area on one of the most perfect nights of transparency and seeing I've ever shot in. I wouldn't be surprised if it's several YEARS before I see another night like it.
I shot several different test shots out there, and with the lens simply on a tripod, I was able to get out to about 6 seconds without notable star trails...at 8-10 I was starting to see some eggs.
In this particular case, 6s was over-exposing some of the bright stars of the W, so I gave 3s a try, and liked what i saw in BYE's preview window. Had a hunch there'd be plenty there for StarTools to work with, and thankfully I was right.
