How many triplets non-apochromats? new
      #5524822 - 11/17/12 06:15 PM

Hey Guys!
I've never seen one of these before.

It's a Vixen triplet semi-apochromat. I know about Takahashi triplet semi-apochromats before they got the flourite lenses. The Vixen is interesting because it looks much newer with the aluminium tripod. Made me wonder who else made triplets that aren't quite apos?
Cheers!

Here is one. Curious as to what makes you think the Vixen is not an apochromatic lens set? Don't read Japanese, does it say so in the description? I bet it puts up supurb views!

Vixen SA70S f/8.6. From mid-early 1980s. I think they stopped offering that when the FL-70S was introduced.

If it is in nice shape I'd definitely give 30,000 yen for it. Plus shipping! Make sure the seller isolates that counterweight.

With the mount, accessories, and cool case I would buy it for $750 if I could

So would I!

I was going by the price. I couldn't tell if that was a BIN or not.

I already have one of those cases. It came with the telescope pictured just to the left of the SA70S in the 1981 Vixen catalog This one is a bit later judging by the lock levers on the New Polaris mount. The first gen New Polaris has those screw in knurled rods.

I don't read Japanese either but the picture is like Steve_M_M's and says semi-apo. Would love to get it for you guys but I can only bid up to 5000 Yen without a Japanese credit card. Probably a good thing, too many good deals here in Japan.

Vixen made a 100 mm f9 fluorite apo around 2001. It was coupled with a vixen great Polaris mount and was one sweet scope. I know, I had one. I had to sell it a few years later when I was going through a divorce and have missed it ever since, the scope that is, not the marriage
