Yesterday was a beautiful clear day and I had a little free time in the afternoon so I hauled out my old 60 mm Mayflower on a whim. It was in storage until a month ago and I hadn't looked through it in about 8 years. I have just recently cleaned it up and remounted it. I couldn't believe how amazing the sun was with a 1 1/4 inch Lunt wedge and Baader continuum filter. I wound up taking out another 60mm that will accomadate my h- alpha filter and spent a good part of the afternoon outside enjoying the beautiful fall weather and the sun. So much so that the little Mayflower came out again last night for a hour enjoying the moon. It's amazing how good the views were with a modern 1.25 inch prism (Japanese of course) and some good ortho eyepieces.
