Canon 60Da First Light-Flame/Horsehead Nebula
      #5534425 - 11/22/12 08:30 PM Attachment (55 downloads)

First light last night with the new Canon 60Da. Imaged with a TV-102, Hutech IDAS-LPS 2" filter, BackyardEOS, Orion Magnificent Auto Guider. I imaged 13 subs @ 5 mins and darks, flats did not come out well at all (gotta work on getting those) so I did not use any flats or bias. Ran through DSS and finished processing in CS5. Need to work on my processing skills some more, but overall very happy with the result. Any comments good or bad would be very helpful and I welcome them. Thanks for looking, and Happy Thanksgiving to all!

I think it looks good. I've been working on this same picture for the last week or so and yours looks 10 times better than mine.

Thanks for the kind words, I still have to get the hang of processing, something new to learn all the time.

Very nice, and since I have a 60Da only used in daytime so far, I was pleased to see this image you captured using yours

BTW -- What was your location when grabbing this image?

Great first light image - you have some nice color in your Flame and pulled out some good faint outer nebulosity.

Great first light! Focus and color seem right on but it could be a little brighter IMO.

John

Thanks Phil. The image was captured from my backyard in upstate NY. I'm very fortunate that it's very dark up here. No street lights, and the neighbors don't use outside lights at night.
