Hopefully we'll get a few good nights over the next few weeks to take advantage of the large size and high altitude of Jupiter. Now that I see it on my monitor at work, it looks a bit too bright. I'll have to adjust it later today. This was a little more difficult because Winjupos can't move the moons, so I had to carefully position and align it for the correct time. Also, Io barely fit into the same frame as Jupiter and it wasn't in all the frames. Here is 3 seconds of the red channel used for this image. I'd be curious to know how that appears to other observers in terms of how they describe the seeing. For me, this is slightly better than normal at my location, but far from what I would call good seeing. How does one assign a number or qualifier for something so complex? Your video shows good detail but the planet and moon are bouncing around quite a bit - though I suppose most of us have seen a lot worse. I'd call it 6/10 but you never really know sometimes until you stack and sharpen. In the best seeing the planet is almost frozen and contrast is a little better. Sadly that does'nt happen very often!
